Beaches:

Honeymoon Island State Park for walking, dog beach, birding and sunning

Caladesi via the Honeymoon ferry for sand and quiet walks. Voted #1 Beach! If you’re energetic walk there from north end of Clearwater Beach.

Howard Park in Tarpon Springs, kayak trails and rental, picnic spots, and nice little beach.

Clearwater Beach to walk/sun and eat at a beachside restaurant /Frenchy’s. Best accessed by the ferry from Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater. Any of the southerly beach communities have very sandy beaches and good walking.

Pas a Grille is the non-built-up piece of beach at the bottom of the ‘chain’.

Indian Rocks beach is also a gorgeous, less crowded, beach and a lovely sunset walk before dinner at Guppy's.

Fort de Soto has bikes, kayaks and remains of a fort. A lovely day out.-ferry trip to Bird Key from here too.

Dunedin Causeway has concession rentals of hobies, kayaks, SUPs etc.

Pretty park and small beach (good for SUP) downtown St. Pete at North Shore Park.

Crystal Beach, pretty little spot, excellent for wading, dog swimming and kayak/SUP access.

Hammock Park in Dunedin, indigenous park, home of St. Andrews chapel.

Weaver Park in Dunedin, lovely waterfront park with summer evening concerts

Pioneer Park in Dunedin, home of the movies in the park, events and markets

Wall Springs park in Palm harbor, pretty trails and spring

Taylor Park in Largo at 8th Ave S. pretty reservoir and walk

Anderson park off US 19, Tarpon Springs, lovely lake front park with shelters and boat ramp

Philippe Park on Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor, shelters and boat ramp

Places to visit:

Take the Jolly Trolley up and down the beaches and Clearwater Beach to Tarpon Springs. . or over to Safety Harbor. Info online. Take it Fri and Sat to Clearwater and beaches and save the parking and driving.

Ferry from Coachman Park in Clearwater runs hourly to Clearwater Beach. Avoid the traffic and parking.

St. Petersburg Sunken Gardens- glorious gardens

Rent kayaks and explore, no white water and anyone can do it at Dunedin Causeway and Howard Park.

Walk, or bike the miles of uninterrupted sidewalk of waterfront, Bayshore Blvd in Tampa

Canoe or kayak down the Hillsborough River (even for beginners) www.canoescape.com

Bok Tower Gardens. Glorious. (Lake Wales)

Homosassa manatees, scalloping,  rednecks. Cabins and boat rental at macraes.com

Crystal River for springs and swimming with the manatees

Tarpon Springs (antiques and Greek Food) and walk around the Bayoux

Safety Harbor Pier and cafes. Nice walk on north Bayshore to Philippe Park

Rheem-Wilson, very scenic and off the beaten path, bike trail from Long Center on Belcher to Safety Harbor.

Downtown St.Pete for fine art museum, shops and walking. Drive/Bike (rent a pick up/drop off bike curb side) around Old North East and Coffee Pot Bayou and up Central Ave to the thriving Grand Central district for independent restaurants, stores and galleries..

Tampa Theater for independent movies in a wonderful eccentric vintage location, with brownies and vino

Dunedin Blue Jays stadium for Toronto and Dunedin Blue Jays. Info/tickets at visitor center.

Sarasota and St.Armands circle. Marie Selby Gardens and Ringling

Anna Maria Island and surrounding beaches

Weeki-Watchi mermaids for a glimpse at 'old Florida' pre-Disney. Wonderful kayaking on the river.

American Stage in St.Pete for plays and annual production in the park in St. Pete.

The Fine Art museum and Holocaust Museum in St.Pete, excellent changing exhibits

Dali museum if you love Dali, if you don’t, this won’t change your opinion.

Chihuly, excellent glass works on Central in St. Pete

Botanical gardens. Heritage village and Co-operative extension center in Largo at Walsingham

Dunedin Hammock park, indigenous terrain, good bike/walk pretty St. Andrews chapel

Gulfport, a funky little waterfront neighborhood in south St. Pete., lovely restaurant choices

Dunedin Fine Art center for excellent exhibitions, classes etc. on Michigan

Clearwater Library/ what a view on the top floor.

Dunedin Library. Also ‘borrow’ books online to read on your e-reader and online movie rental. All over Dunedin check out the ‘Little Libraries’ to give and take a book.

Lake Tarpon for walking/viewing. Both east and west sides have parks.-US19 or East Lake Road

Clearwater marine aquarium and tours
SHAMC. Lots of art and music events at this Safety Harbor art and music center

Tampa Aquarium, lovely kid's day out. Easy trip, head east on SR60

Classes, gym and community shows etc. at Dunedin Community Center on Michigan, take your Dunedin utility bill, or lease, to get ‘resident’ card and rates.,
